Day two ELBAG training for Small Holder Women Farmers

Today the women were introduced to the concept of budgeting, starting with the household budget and the similarities to public budgets in allocating scarce resources.
Sources or revenues at Local, State and National levels were identified . It was quite interesting to see the farmers identifying sources of revenue at the Local government to include internally generated revenue such as from markets, transport, farm produce etc. They also shared their experiences during the group work on Household budgeting and key lessons from the group work was the
1. the dissagreements in allocation because of individual interest
2., participation of members of the  group in arriving at consensus
3. scarce resources
4. equitable distribution of resources within the household, which ofcourse  they noticed some members of the household were not adequately provided for.
This exercise set the tone for analyzing the budgets
